2022 ALPHA IOTA MU LAMBDA SCHOLARSHIP

The Iota Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. / Alpha Iota Mu Lambda Foundation is now accepting applications for the "Alpha Phi Alpha" Scholarship Program. This scholarship program was established primarily to provide assistance to outstanding African American male seniors graduating from South King County and Tacoma-Pierce County High Schools in their pursuit of a baccalaureate degree program of study at an accredited college or university. Scholarship funding is distributed through the Alpha Iota Mu Lambda Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization designed to support our chapter's education and leadership programs.

The "Alpha Phi Alpha" Scholarship Program will honor promising graduating high school seniors from the Tacoma-Pierce County metropolitan area with a $1,500 scholarship per recipient.  Based on the judging panel, successful applicants will receive an award in memory of Joseph Peyton (Joe Peyton Scholarship).

 

Successful Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in their College/University academic program within the second grading period of the current school year to remain eligible as scholarship recipients.

 

Joseph Peyton was a University of Puget Sound career educator and dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Eligible applicants for the scholarship must have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Consideration will be given to the difficulty of the courses taken, academic progress, community service, and to any particular challenges met and overcome by the applicant.

 

Iota Mu Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. must receive all completed application packets no later than Tuesday, April 5, 2022. A complete application packet includes the application forms verified by your guidance counselor, parent / guardian, transcript, letters of recommendation and the essay.

 

The scholarship recipients will be honored at the Annual Tacoma National Pan-Hellenic Council Scholarship Awards Luncheon scheduled for, May 1, 2022 from 2-4pm at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites located at 1425 E 27th St, Tacoma, WA 98421.
